One of my specialities is education photography. I work with universities, colleges and schools on everything from one-off events to the all-important prospectus. I have been involved in education as a student, teacher and now photographer and it remains one of my favourite environments to work. 


Where I come in: Education can be a vibrant, exciting place to learn and teach but some photography doesn’t always convey this. As with any other product or service it is important to make sure the images used tell your story to its best. Selling your institute will often come down to first impressions and the photography used could make all the difference. 


Communication: Whether it is covering that one-off event and turning round the images immediately or carefully planning the shots required for the cover of the prospectus, communication is key and something I take great care with. With your guidance and my creativity, a suite of images will be produced and optimised to be used across a variety of media and in some cases remain relevant for years to come. Most of my clients use me on a regular basis as a trusted supplier because of the reasons I have outlined above. For this I turned off all the lights apart from the one in the shot to add a bit of drama.

This needed additional back lighting and the face needed lifting slightly in the editing process.

Picking out a careful listener in a big audience often tells the story of an event better than a bigger wider shot.

Careful use of angles, focal points and exposure to give something a little different to the client.

This just needed a little additional lighting to help separate from the background for Abandon Normal Devices.

Part of the brief here was to photograph the facilities so once the more obvious angles where exhausted I started looking for more creative options.

 I used 2 lights here to carefully illuminate the subjects as they immersed themselves and almost forgot I was there.
